Which disadvantages are there?

  • The health insurance funds in most countries will cover none or only a small fraction, because the treatment with IPT is not a commonly used method. Sometimes personal involvement in negotiations with the health insurance company is necessary and successful. The handling is quite different but you need to reckon that you have to pay it on your own.
  • The therapy is labour-intensive. It takes about 3 to 4 hours in total – sometimes even up to 6 hours.
  • The therapy is cost-intensive due to the two reasons mentioned above. However it is much cheaper as the normal chemo therapy. But the patient has to pay it by himself normally
